Tourmaline Partners is the leading provider of outsourced trading services to asset managers, the largest independent buy-side trading firm globally with a team of over 30 traders between Stamford, London and Sydney. We undertake specialized trading services for asset managers across the AUM scale, the Sydney office undertakes equity trading across all Asian markets as well as covering the European and North American books in our time zone.
Due to increasing client demand for our trading services in the region, we are adding at least one experienced person to the trading team based in Sydney.
This an excellent opportunity for an experienced trader to join a dynamic and hardworking team in the growth segment of the equity market, working with the leading provider of outsourced trading.
Role: Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Working within the APAC Team undertaking equity trading across developed and emerging Asian markets
Utilising high touch trading, electronic execution and alternative trading venues to achieve best execution
Demonstrating a high degree of trading competency across multiple markets and highly varied order types
Negotiating large single stock block trades
Trading single country and regional baskets/programs
Sourcing stock loan and trading FX hedges on equity trades as required
Assist in monitoring intraday book performance and market activity, providing input to the trading team to help shape order trading
Engage directly with client PM’s and in-house traders on order strategy, order progress, block availability, market colour and information flow
Assist in the preparation of bespoke intraday market reports & trade execution progress reports for clients
Assist in team coverage of the global orders books during the Asian time zone. Accept European and US order flow and engage with clients on execution requirements, pre-trade analysis, agree benchmarks & execution strategy
Helping to manage and maintain market counterparty relationships to maximize our access to market liquidity
After hours trading of US equities
Minimum 3-5 experience trading regional equities. Global equity trading experience ex-Asia may be considered.
Forward thinking, active trading ability is an absolute prerequisite, as is meticulous trading book management
Highly experienced in electronic trading. Program trading experience would be looked on favorably
Self-motivation, a very strong worth ethic, a team player with a positive attitude
Ability to competently handle a high level of order flow across multiple markets
Ability to prioritise work flow to match market conditions
Ability to work proactively in a small but highly energetic team environment
Ability to competently undertake block trading negotiation
Superior people and relationship management skills are important
Willingness to help cover Asian hours - we cover US after-hours trading through to HK close
Must be able pass US regulatory exams – FINRA Securities Industry Essentials exam (SIE), Series 7 and the Series 63.
